Let me catch you up. I feel like the second shot has just been hit to me and I’ve already moved up, so now I’m behind. This is a journey we are on together and thanks to WordPress, we are behind.
I’ve continued to consume pickleball as much as possible. I went on vacation with my family (I didn’t gain weight on vacation!). I was able to play pickleball in both Billings, MT and Bozeman, MT. I am so impressed with the pickleball community! I picked up games with strangers both in Billings and Bozeman and it was a wonderful time! I met two individuals at these places and the cool thing was that one was probably 20+ years younger than me and the other was 20+ years older than me! Pickleball really is an “ageless” sport. Also, the old guy kicked my butt. That stuff they say about beginner pickleball just being about not making mistakes, it’s true.
I can’t judge a pickleball community when I was only in town for a couple of days, but I can tell you, Bogert Park in Bozeman is hopping. There were 6-8 courts, and they were busy. People were eager to pick up games and sportsmanlike. The courts are permanent and all pickleball. I’m looking forward to going back to Bogert Park next time in Bozeman with decent weather.
Everybody knows diet and vacation don’t mix, but I’m proud of the choices that I made. I did drink way too many Breves, but other than that I stayed mostly ketogenic.
Did you know that Buffalo Wild Wings traditional wings are keto friendly? I don’t know why I had never put that together before. Maybe it’s because I used to be a boneless wings guy, but the traditional wings are just…wings. Of course, you have to watch your sauce, but there are several decent low carb sauce options (medium, buffalo, parmesan garlic, etc.) I found myself not eating as many vegetables overall, but such is vacation, I think.
I’m curious, particularly if you are low carb, what is your go to food on the road? I remember having options at Chipotle, so I ordered some one night there and it was a total disaster. We ordered at about 8:15-8:20 and the pickup time wasn’t until 8:50. This was perplexing to me since um, well, it’s Chipotle. Typically, you go in, you go through the line, you go out, not complicated. But, it’s Bozeman, so you take what you can get particularly at night. So, we show up at 8:55 or so and the food is not ready. So, we wait. We waited long enough that finally we were asked for the name. I gave it to them only to be informed that our food was…stolen! We sit there for about another 10 minutes waiting for our food (again not sure why it took so long). But we got it, without our drink, so I asked for the cup. It wasn’t the cashiers’ fault, she was trying to be helpful, but YIKES. Anyway, I got back to where we were staying, and the food was pretty much awful. I think it will be a while before I’m back to Chipotle.
Here’s the health/weight update. I started this whole thing in middle to late July.
Weights:
7/17: 280 lbs
7/28: 276.4
8/7: 270.6
8/14: 272.4 (I went to Hershey Park. Never go to Hershey Park while trying to eat healthy!)
8/21: 270
8/26: 267.6
9/6: 267.4
So, that is the latest. My goal by Christmas is to make it down to 250. I’m going to set smaller achievable goals between now and then.
I have so much pickleball stuff to go over with you, but that will have to wait until next time. I get to play tonight. I’m focused on two things. 1. Staying back on the second shot, I’m getting better at this, but I still remind myself to stay back. 2. On my second shot, I really want to drive the ball deep to keep my opponents back.
Keep Dinking.
